Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the Bedford County School of Practical Nursing program adhere to the Code of Virginia, specifically ยง 54.1-3020.
The program offers priority seating to qualified high school seniors from Bedford County Public Schools who are in good academic and disciplinary standing. These students are considered for admission following the completion of the application process. Subsequently, the program is opened to adult residents of Bedford County, followed by other adult applicants. All applicants, regardless of residency, must undergo the same application and review procedures.
All applicants must submit a completed application by the specified deadline. This submission must include transcripts of high school records or equivalent GED documentation. For those with college coursework or degrees, relevant transcripts should also be provided. While not mandatory, documentation of any medical background, such as EMT certification or CNA/Med Tech experience, is strongly encouraged.
For consideration of admission, a TEAS test is required. This test is scheduled and proctored by the program at SGSTC. The cost of the test is included in the application fee.

Reading Comprehension
English
Science
Math
This test is a critical component for admission into the program. Adequate preparation is essential for success. In order to be eligible for an interview the applicant must achieve a minimum score of 50 (Adjusted Individual Total Score). However, eligibility may also be determined at the discretion of the Director of Nursing, Principal, and Practical Nursing Faculty. Applicants are highly encouraged to begin preparing for the TEAS test as soon as submitting your application.
